Business Associations in Hung Yen, Quang Nam, Dak Lak, An Giang: Audit, Benchmark and Recommendations

Based on the GTZ terms of reference, this report provides several strategic options for GTZ on how to promote business associations in four provinces of Vietnam until the end of the current programme phase and serves as a base for GTZ future interventions in that regard. The proposals are predicated on findings gathered in interviews with associations and other stakeholders (Annex 1: Survey questionnaire, Annex 2: Interviewed partners).

The report furthermore assesses the current performance of selected Vietnamese business associations by using the instrument of benchmarking them against Vietnamese top performers and also against selected associations in other countries in the South.

Based on good practices the mission team found out, a sustainable organizational model for Vietnamese provincial business associations has been outlined.

The proposal section contains suggestions for general capacity building in business associations, a detailed audit, good and bad practice plus many individual recommendations for provincial business associations. It also contains an outline of possible roles and functions of the regional Mekong Delta associations in fishery and tourism.
